LatinX Heritage Month with Patricia Kranikoski - Employee Spotlight

Written by Patricia Kranikoski | Oct 6, 2020 10:00:00 AM

I started working for Wish in 2015 as a part-time Language Specialist. After 3 months I was offered a full-time position, and have been growing ever since then!

I love how Wish celebrates diversity, and the LatinX Heritage Month is a fun period at the office! My team would usually celebrate all beautiful cultures with a get together after work, but due to the current world events, we are settling to fun virtual Samba classes and virtual happy hours.

1. What do you do at Wish?

I’m part of Localization, our team enables users, merchants, and stores around the world to use Wish in their native language and optimize the global user experience.

As a part of Localization, I manage LATCH - the team that opens the door to understanding the Latin America and China markets.

2. How has your LatinX heritage influenced or shaped your career/life?

Since I joined Wish almost 6 years ago, when there were only 70 of us, everyone always treated me with respect and sought my opinion about the Latin America Market.

I’m originally from Brazil and I’ve been in the United States for 16 years. I’ve grown personally and professionally through my Latin background as Wish has expanded its presence in Latin America. I’m responsible for delivering high-quality localized content and making the product familiar to our markets.

I’m very proud to contribute to the amazing growth of Wish and the experience it has given me.

3. What is your favorite memory of working at Wish?

I have so many good memories, I have to say that I miss going up to the 42nd floor for our weekly happy hours, and spending time with all my friends and co-workers, sharing our frustrations, our successes, and having a few drinks.

Another amazing memory was seeing my suggestion of localized currency to increase market growth come to life for the Brazilian market. It took a cross-team effort and now we’re seeing the results!

4. What does LatinX Heritage Month mean to you?

It means resilience, strength, hope, and love.

Resilience to overcome the challenges we encounter (professionally and personally). Strength to keep going, to make it better, and to improve. Hope to see beauty and opportunities everywhere. Love for life and the family we build for ourselves.

5. What is your favorite item you have bought on Wish?

I’ve bought many items at Wish throughout the years. From essentials, to entertaining, to gifts, perfumes, etc. My favorite item lately is my Bluetooth headphones which I use for fun and all my working from home meetings.
